Generate layout space beyond the captured frame

Expansion creates new pixels outside the original image; it does not reveal what was truly beyond the camera. Consistent perspective, light, texture, and some surrounding context give the model a stronger starting point.

AI processing uploads the image and uses the displayed credits. Keep the source, add only the space the layout needs, and inspect the boundary between captured and generated pixels.

How to expand an image with control

  1. 1

Choose a source with useful context

Use the largest version and enough background for the model to infer perspective and light.

  2. 2

    Set a purposeful new canvas

Select the direction and minimum amount of added space needed for the destination.

  3. 3

    Review the generated continuation

Inspect seams, objects, anatomy, reflections, text, and repeating texture before export.

Useful outpainting layouts

Banner space

Extend a product or portrait image to make room for a headline.

Alternate aspect ratios

Adapt an owned image to a wider or taller layout without cropping the subject.

Composition repair

Add modest breathing room around a subject placed too close to an edge.

Generated canvas is an invention

  • Generated areas are plausible continuations, not recovered scene content.
  • Faces, hands, text, architecture, and reflections can become inconsistent.
  • Large expansions with little source context are less reliable.

AI image expansion questions

Does expansion uncover the real scene outside the photo?

No. It generates a visually plausible continuation from the pixels and context that are visible.

How much should I expand at once?

Add only the space needed. Several reviewed steps may be more controllable than one very large expansion.

Why is there a visible seam?

Light, texture, or perspective changed at the source boundary. Try a smaller expansion or a source with more surrounding context.
